A Shop for Killers S2 Episodes 5-6: Pa-shin's Betrayal Explained

The most important battle of Season 2 is about to begin. Full spoilers.

In A Shop for Killers Season 2 episodes 5 and 6, Ji-an finally becomes the true head of Murthehelp, while Kusanagi turns Pa-shin into a Trojan horse. Ji-an tries to secure peace through direct negotiations with Babylon, but Kusanagi has something very different in mind. A full-scale assault now appears imminent.

A Faked Video, and Two Farewells

Q is shown footage of Jin-man killing J. It’s fake, manufactured by Kusanagi Jin, who sends Q back to Japan with J’s remains before the next stage of the operation begins.

At the same time, Ji-an is in the hospital. After living under the alias Lee Ah-rin, she’s offered yet another new identity — Lee Ye-na — and turns that down too. In the end, she decides to live as Jung Ji-an.

Ji-an visits Woo-jin’s memorial, where she runs into the grandmother from the island. The older woman comforts her, telling her to stay strong and live strong. At the same time, in Japan, Q sits with J’s memorial alone. The two women’s grief plays out in parallel, both of them holding it together in public. Q vows revenge against Jin-man.

Back at the Shop — But Not the Same Ji-an

Ji-an returns to the shop on her own terms. She reunites with Min-hye, Brother, Cheol-seung, and Jin-woo (Jin-man’s old colleague, the one who posed as a police officer to deliver news of Jin-man’s death in Season 1), then finally comes face to face with Jin-man again. She’s warm with Min-hye, but cold toward Jin-man — her eyes full of resentment. It’s not hard to understand why.

Alone in her room, Ji-an slaps herself, wracked with self-blame.

Chen — The Real Power Behind Babylon

The intel Jin-man leaked throws Babylon into chaos. In the middle of it, a video call connects to someone named Chen — no face, just a voice, and Kusanagi is visibly deferential the entire time. Chen feels like a character who’s going to matter a great deal going forward.

Chen suspects Kusanagi is quietly building her own operation by absorbing Murthehelp for herself. He sets the terms anyway: recover the server Jin-man stole from Babylon, kill Jin-man, and absorb Murthehelp, and the Korea branch is hers to run.

Ji-an Starts Taking Responsibility

Ji-an tells Jin-man she’s done letting other people die to protect her — that’s why she came back. Jin-man’s answer: words like that need to be backed up with results first.

Ji-an goes to see An Seong-beom, believing he is the one person the other Code Reds will still listen to. She reveals that Babylon has been tracking retired operatives even after they assumed new identities, hoping to bring him onto her side. He doesn’t commit on the spot, but he feels like someone who’s going to matter later.

Ji-an throws herself into training — inventory management, firearms drills with pistols and sniper rifles, hacking lessons, assault rifle training, and even a briefing on a hideout built to be burned down after an escape.

Ji-an Leads the Negotiation — This Isn’t the Same Woman

Murthehelp makes the first move toward negotiation. Ji-an arrives with the server loaded on a truck, and she doesn’t carry herself like the wide-eyed college kid she used to be — this is a businesswoman now. Jin-man isn’t even there. Ji-an announces herself as Murthehelp’s new head and demands that the person in charge on Babylon’s side show up in person. Kusanagi actually comes.

Ji-an says Jin-man is stepping back, and proposes a partnership instead of endless conflict. She warns that the site is wired with explosives, set to go off if her vital signs flatline, and asks Kusanagi directly — “Aren’t you afraid of dying?”

Kusanagi refuses and moves to strike. The lights cut out, and a dozen red laser dots land on her all at once — An Seong-beom’s Red Code forces, arriving in support. Kusanagi says nothing and pulls back. Her subordinate collects the truck keys on the way out, which reads as agreement to the deal.

With the standoff resolved, Ji-an proposes a new rule: a Blue Code, dedicated to weapons transport. Murthehelp’s existing system splits members into Red Code (killers), Purple Code (spies), and Yellow Code (cleanup crews), all of whom are obligated to protect Green Code members, who hold Murthehelp’s highest protected status. Ji-an tells everyone in the room — Jin-woo, Min-hye, Brother, Cheol-seung — that she wants all of them to become Green.

That’s when Pa-shin’s call comes in. His voice is frantic. He needs help.

Episode 6 — Thailand, and a Forced Betrayal

Pa-shin’s son, Ati (Korean: 아띠), is kidnapped in Thailand, and Pa-shin himself is captured by Babylon. Jin-man doesn’t know any of this.

After taking Pa-shin’s call, Jin-man travels to Thailand to find Ati, planning to link up with Pa-shin once he arrives. He heads to a PC bang Pa-shin directed him to — obviously a trap — and Babylon’s mercenaries take him.

At that same moment, Pa-shin is already back in Korea. He returns to Murthehelp.

The show then reveals what happened to Pa-shin after his capture. Kusanagi threatens him using his son, shoots him in the lower abdomen, and has a bug implanted inside the wound. Later, a Babylon operative working inside the warehouse gives him a replacement necklace fitted with a hidden camera — identical to the one he already wears. Using its footage, Babylon begins mapping the shop’s internal layout. None of Ji-an’s team has any idea he’s been turned.

A Trojan Horse

Pa-shin and Min-hye set out to rescue Ati — which is exactly what Kusanagi planned. With Jin-man and Min-hye both out of the picture, Babylon prepares a full assault on the shop. Kusanagi adds four of Q’s associates and two more teams to the operation. Q still doesn’t know Jin-man has already been captured — she believes taking Ji-an is the way to draw him out.

Jin-man breaks his chains and escapes the mercenary camp, forcing the location of Ati out of the team leader who held him. Outside, there’s no phone signal, just jungle in every direction. He navigates by compass alone.

Pa-shin lures Min-hye into a trap under the pretense of rescuing Ati. He fires at her, forcing her off the bridge and into the water below. Whether she survives is left unclear.

The Shop Is Breached

Word reaches Kusanagi that Jin-man has escaped. Meanwhile, Ji-an notices that the latest email supposedly sent by their mole is missing the hidden marker used in the earlier messages. Decoding the real mole’s warning, the team realizes that Pa-shin may have been turned.

It’s already too late. Pa-shin, having infiltrated the shop, takes down Jin-woo and Cheol-seung. He hands the shop’s security system over to Babylon, subdues Brother, and captures Ji-an. With the system compromised, Q and her teams prepare to move in.

An Seong-beom exchanges a greeting with Kusanagi — whether he’s been recruited to their side is still unclear.

Setting Up the Real Battle — Episodes 5-6, and What Comes Next

This stretch of episodes exists to set up the climax coming in episodes 7 and 8. With Jin-man out of the picture, how does the team survive this? Season 1’s real strength was its confined, single-location action. Is Season 2 about to circle back to that same claustrophobic style?

I understand what Ji-an demanded in return: Jin-man’s life and an end to the war. What I don’t understand is how she expected to enforce that deal after handing Babylon the server. Once the exchange was complete, Kusanagi had no reason to honor her promise.

The scene of Jin-man twisting upside down to break free from his chains was hard to buy. Chains don’t break that way — I’ll just assume Babylon bought the cheapest ones available.

Pa-shin is such a good character, and it’s a shame to watch him get pulled apart like this, forced into it by a threat against his own son. Whether the writers have something bigger planned for him later is another thing I’m nervous about.

Looking back, I think what makes this show work is exactly this feeling — that everyone might live, and everyone might die, all at once.
